VÆN Labs

Where things get built before they earn a name.

Labs has no customers and sells nothing. That is not a stage it is passing through, it is the definition. The moment something here finds a customer, it stops being Labs and becomes a branch.

A branch has its own customers and its own way of earning. Labs has neither, on purpose.

The reason is simple: the moment research has to earn, it starts shipping. And the one rule the whole company is held to, that every result traces back to a source or is not shown, is exactly the rule that gets quietly dropped when something has to ship on a date.

So Labs is the place where work is allowed to be slow, and where it is allowed to be abandoned. Both of those are cheaper here than in a branch that has invoices attached to it.

What is in there right now.

VÆN OS

Parked

An operating system for personal performance: habits, health data, focus, the day laid out honestly. It was built to roughly two thirds and then parked when Property became the branch with a revenue path. Parked is not cancelled, and it is not a promise either.

The rating engine

In use

The rating that runs under VÆN Performance started here. It is the clearest example of what Labs is for: work that begins without a customer and moves into a branch once it has one.

Agent tooling

Internal

The runtime that keeps the company running: scheduling, research, monitoring, the knowledge base. It serves all three branches, so it belongs to the roof rather than to Labs as a product. It will not be sold.

There is nothing to buy here. That is the whole point.

The two branches that do have something are next door.
